Rangi Frozen in Time

Will be on display at Art in The Park 2026 (11 - 15 November)

Inspired by the iconic Rangitoto Island in New Zealand, Rangi Frozen in Time is a personal celebration of a place that holds a special place in the hearts of many New Zealanders. With its striking silhouette and lush green landscape, Rangitoto is a familiar sight that evokes a sense of home, connection and nostalgia.

I wanted to capture this beautiful landmark in a slightly different way, combining its natural shape with a bold geometric sky in shades of blue, purple and soft neutrals. The raised 3D texture brings the island to life, while the fine silver detailing adds a subtle shimmer throughout the geometric patterns, beautifully complementing the cool tones of the sky.

For me, this artwork is about capturing a familiar landscape and seeing it through a new perspective. It brings together the beauty of nature and a contemporary, playful style, creating a piece that feels both meaningful and full of character.
