Meet Madi!
Madi Mackay is an up and coming artist from Auckland, New Zealand. Her art is a creative and unique twist to traditional paintings. She currently specialises in two distinct styles of Fluid art and textured 3D paintings.
Madi is the type of person that likes to do all sorts of hobbies and has multiple interests. She grew up playing sports and singing in the school choir. She loves to cook and bake.
But there has always been a consistent interest that stayed with her through her entire childhood - which is creating art. She has always been drawing, colouring or painting. Being modest she would say that they are not very good and there's not much talent to them but she goes off the saying "The more you practise the better you become. The better you become, the more freedom you have to create - Ricky Gervais''.
At her day job Madi works around artworks everyday, she has seen many different styles, very expensive pieces, artwork created by extremely well known people. By seeing all these styles Madi got inspired and noticed that there is a style that she hasn't yet seen. She started off with a fluid art medium (paint pouring). Fluid art was a simple and fun way to start creating. There was no pressure on making it perfect and it was unpredictable on what the end result may be.
Madi started her mountain range paintings when she found an advert for the Mt Ruapehu Art Awards in 2023. This was the first time Madi had made a painting that big and also an artwork that is actually designed to look like something. Madi now has dreams to keep painting mountains - not just of NZ Landscapes but also from around the world.
